I am holding a Gift-Giving Festival on Monday the 26th in the Evening, some might call it a Winter Festival. This replaces my ENM Run on the 26th because it is December and folks are too busy for FFXI Events other than silly ones.
If you play the game strictly for levels, gil and/or experience - and that is the only reason you play - you do not want to come to this Event. We did a Gift Exchange on my other linkshell and some enjoyed it; pretty much a mindset kind of thing. I could understand if someone had other in-game interests they wished to pursue during the same hour. For my gift on the other linkshell I gave 3 stacks of fresh black sole sushi (I cook, after all).
Clan Winter Festival starts at 9PM Eastern Time in North San d'Oria and runs for only an hour. If you are interested in the gift portion you post here. Not much will be happening except exchanging some gifts, shooting off some fireworks. We meet by the fountain and the trees, of course.
The Mistress of Gifts is a Mithra named Santaclaws; she exists for those to send their presents to if they cannot be online but want to participate. Since the presents show up in the delivery service with no gift tag on them the character's name you will be acquiring a gift for gets posted to this thread; I will be generating a list of Event participants. If you don't want to participate in the gift portion, but want to show up for fireworks then don't post to this thread - just show up. If you do want to participate in gifts and do plan on showing up then you can hold onto your gift to exchange in North San d'Oria at the proper time.
Here is the sort of posting I need to see for GIFT EXCHANGE Participants:
------ begin sample -------
Tamara (Mithra)
Primary job is WHM, currently below level 50
but I do have scrolls of HOLY and RAISE II in my safe
Secondary job is SMN, currently below level 24
Crafting (hobbies) are: Fishing (34 skill) and Cooking (99 skill)
------ end sample -------
Post your character's name and main job levels here if you wish to participate in the Clan Gift Exchange.
The cut-off to participate in the Gift Exchange is by U.S. midnight (11:59PM Pacific) on the 22nd. On December 23rd I will /random to match you with your Gift Partner and I will post the results here. Hopefully on the 24th, the 25th, or the 26th you will find a chance to review whom you are giving a gift to.
Brief example of how the Gift Exchange List I will be generating and posting may turn out:
Tamara gives Maior a gift (I tend to give food).
Thersites gives Malkier a gift.
Kitchel gives Avatarx a gift.
Maior gives Kitchel a gift.
Malkier gives Tamara a gift.
Avatarx gives Thersites a gift.
For characters with jobs < 20 remember these items you could likely farm:
silk thread (crawlers) is now worth about 4,000 gil each
fresh mugwort (harvested in Giddeus) is now worth 13,000 gil each
stack of wild onions (Goblin Thugs) is now about 26,000 gil
Happy Holidays and remember the Winter Festival/Gift Exchange Event is really just for fun! It is not intended to advance your character in the game nor make you rich! Of course I recognize folks may be too busy for this (it is December) so if I do not get four names besides myself on this thread I will just cancel the entire event =^_^=
The Even-Numbered Monday ENM Runs I host will begin again on January 10th, 2006 at 9PM in Jeuno.
Happy Holidays!
Only a Few showed up!
Only a few Clan showed up - which is fine; I know there are many, many goals in the game to consume online hours.
Since fish for sushi was in such short supply at the various Auction Houses I will cook again (next time in Windurst Waters) in seven days. Yes, another Monday Evening Cooking Session begins at 9PM Eastern in 2006 on the 2nd. Gather your ingredients in advance, please.
See you next year! =^_^=

I can't think of anything that my WHM needs at the moment, I have a MND + of 32, which is about the highest one can have.
As for BRD, I have a Few instraments, mainly the ones I use alot, Ballad, Minuet, Minnue, etc.
For SMN, I could use Fenrir, Just kidding. :) I will get SMN up to at least 30 before attempting Fenrir.
You can come for cooking and
You can come for cooking and fireworks, Malkier, but I cancelled the Gift Exchange because too few folks by the deadline.
Cooking in North San d'Oria on Monday the 26th at 9PM Eastern. Bring crystals and ingredients if you want me to cook something up for you.

We have Tamara,
and we have Maior
and we have Darkkit
and we have Cyclonus!
But we DON'T have enough interest to hold the gift-exchange!
Oh well, no gift-exchange; however I am still going to show up in North San d'Oria to cook! See you there if you want to bring crystals and ingredients, and of course feel free to fire off any fireworks if you want.
Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Joyeux Noel! Happy New Year!

Me!
Cyclonus (Elvaan Male)
Primary job : Bard 67
Other jobs : DRK 45, WHM 37, BLM 35, MNK 15
Crafting : Cooking around 77.?
I am missing a few instruments from my collection - never seem to be available at the AH or maybe I just have very bad luck. Siren Flute, Flute and Piccolo +1 are what I am missing.
I believe the Siren Flute can be quested, but I haven't gotten around to it.
Price limit?
I was wondering if there would be a cost limit for what someone would ask for, or give. This way it's a little easier for people who don't have alot of gil to spend. I know some people are more fortunate than others when it comes to gil, cough cough Ray cough. :)
Price Limit?
I don't know - others can post to Malkier's Question if they wish. I was kindofsortof going with Communism: from each according to his ability.
On the other Linkshell this was a first year gift-exchange run and I gave 3 stacks of sole sushi (one stack per Wise Man) - I think this is 150k of food at current prices? The ingredients themselves were rather pricey, I was honestly shocked, but I went ahead with my plan anyways.
I was prepared to receive, oh, one or two Wild Onions or a Fishing Lure (Shrimp Lures - I lose a lot of those). What I received was the Holy scroll and a scroll of Raise II.
Since I ran Santaclaws I know of another gift given: one stack of pies and a commitment to show up to come and whack AF1 and AF2 bad stuffs. I figure some folks will give these kinds of gifts.
Gift Exchanges always work out this way though - even those Gift Exchanges in Real Life. A gift giver gets assigned a name for someone who had helped the gift giver out over the year and all of a sudden the gift gets really nice. The person who gave me the nice scrolls, I used to buy music for him and an instrument or two to play in the Dunes and down in Elshimo, back when he had no gil.
I am not forcing any rules but I will state it is likely best we keep it under 200k gil; but I am also not expecting a 200k gift from someone with their highest job in the 20's.
Just no Mithra lingerie, please =^_^=
Raytien is looking to fund his next required armor purchase by selling his Scorpion Harness, so I hardly consider Raytien swimming in gil if he is selling equipment to keep playing within experience parties.
Other postings
FWIW, there are a couple of other postings for this event (including my own) that can be found here.

Okies!
Okies!
So I don't get accused of being a Wicked Witch of the South would you please put up a LS Message stating the cutoff for the Gift Exchange is the night of the 22nd?
Thank-you =^_^=
Cooking
Some Clan members have been asking me about my cooking. As a rule I don't charge to cook up food (as in I have never charged). So if you want to bring CRYSTALS and ALL INGREDIENTS to this event I can cook up your favorite food recipe(s).
